hi everyone and welcome to my very first blog post. let me set the scene:
me : the epitome of grace (not really) deciding to get off of my couch and embark on a fitness journey. enter: pilates. plot twist! it turns out that pilates requires more flexibility than a rubber band and more balance than a clown juggling flame throwers on a tightrope but hey! who doesn’t want a little challenge in their life?
ah but do not fret, with the determination of a toddler trying to fit a square block into a round hole, I persevered. and let me tell you, those tiny movements that pilates demands? they are sneaky. you think you’re just lifting your leg, but suddenly you are engaging muscles you never knew existed, muscles you are absolutely certain were made up in an effort to torment you. pilates can only be described as a playground for adults, requiring many props, however, amidst the struggles and more wobbling than I like to admit, I already feel stronger. I have increased strength, improved flexibility and I’m actually realizing the importance of mindfulness and breathing (who knew???)
the first time I completed an exercise without feeling like I was going to projectile vomit on my mat, I felt like I deserved a medal ( or at the very least a large glass of cab). so, I encourage you to join me in wobbling with grace, discovering little muscles sent from the gates of hell, and becoming stronger each day. trust me it’s worth it.
